Abstract Expressionism Process Post
This was my original under wash and gestural marks to guide how my piece would develop. I started to color block and add more gestural marks to my painting. I began to develop and color scheme. I added layers of color onto my painting, and began to focus on areas of contrast I began to work on the idea of having small paintings within the larger one. I kept layering on color to try to bring areas of it together. This was my final painting. I was happy with how it came togeth

Reflection Essay
As I did art this year, I saw a lot of change in how I approached it and what I wanted to accomplish in doing it. Specifically, I have learned so many new techniques for how to make art. This applies to the medium and also the way I went about making my art. For the mediums, I feel like I saw the greatest growth in my use of conté, especially as we did the gesture drawing. The gesture drawing experience also helped me begin to approach art with a more open mindset and focus o

Awareness blog post
For my awareness post I chose an artist named Refik Anadol, who created the piece above called "Unsupervised" in 2022. The piece is an AI-generated digital installation shown at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Anadol uses artificial intelligence, data, moving images, and sound to create visuals that are always changing. I like this artwork because it feels immersive and different from traditional art. To me, the constantly moving colors and shapes make it seem aliv

Still Life Process Post- color wash and highlights
First color wash, apple is clearly darker than it should be and the vase is lighter than it should be, but the background color is set. Added a few color correcting washes, but the vase was still not dark as is should be. Darkened the vase slightly, added more depth to apple, added more shadow inside vase. Finished oil painting with final highlights of pure white and areas with pure paint added!

Art in Career: Creative Design Engineering
As someone who has always been interested in math and science, I wanted to understand how the engineering field and the art field intersect. That curiosity led me to explore the career of a Creative Design Engineer, a job that combines technical knowledge with creativity to design products, structures, or experiences that are both functional and visually appealing. In this career, a typical day could include sketching ideas, creating 3D models using design software, and buil

Process post-oil painting
This is when I began o add more defining features and darker shadows. I still needed to make the apple much darker. I considerably darkened the apple but the bottle and paint brushes still needed to be refined. I added detail to to the paint brushes and bottle, and darkened the apple even more. I also went in with some white and added highlights.

Process post - still life arrangement/thumbnails/underdrawing
These were my thumbnails that I drew as I arranged my still life objects, thinking about which ones I wanted to do. I eventually decided on the one circled. Although I do not have a picture of my underdrawing, this was the picture of my final composition.

My Sculpture
This is the first progress picture I took. I had completed the basic shape of my head. I worked more on the base shape and features, like my nose. I did the eyes as well. I worked more on the face, and I added the base for the hair. I began my second try on the eyes because they were not big enough the first time. This was as I continued to add on the hair and build up certain features. I had not yet added the ears. This was my completed piece. This is the front view of my f

My Artist Copy Alberto Giacometti
This was my under sketch and contour Tears were shed. Nothing felt natural. I feel like I was beginning to grasp the mark and learn what materials to use, such as. However, I was still unsatisfied and it felt a little bit awkward. I felt like the face was off ,and the block of sharing didn't have enough contrast. This is what I turned in. Although I had not finished it due to time, I felt comfortable with what I had done and was ready to move on to the self portrait.
